Get your CWB certification at one of Toronto's longest-standing accredited testing centres. Bi-weekly testing available for students and non-students alike.
The Canadian Welding Bureau (CWB) serves as the national certifying body for structural welders across Canada. CWB certification aligns with the Canadian Standards Association (CSA) W47.1 / W47.2 and is required for welders working on steel structures, buildings, bridges, and other infrastructure projects in various industries such as construction, fabrication and heavy equipment.
All candidates must bring their own Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and tools to the testing centre:
Candidates arriving without proper PPE will not be permitted to test. Ensure all equipment meets current safety standards.
Testing starts at 8:00 AM. All dates are Fridays unless otherwise noted.
We offer CWB certification testing across all major welding processes and materials.
Each welding process and position requires a separate test. Welders must pass each position (flat, horizontal, vertical, overhead) in succession.
Your CWB Welder Qualification Record is valid for two years from the date of testing. Welders must re-test before their qualification expires to maintain their certification status.
All Institute of Technical Trades welding programs include CWB certification testing as part of the curriculum, giving our students a significant advantage.
CWB certification is recognized nationwide and required for structural welding work across Canada's construction and fabrication industries.
CWB testing ensures welders meet CSA W47.1 / W47.2 standards, keeping you and your employer compliant with Canadian safety regulations.
CWB-certified welders command higher wages and have access to more job opportunities, including government and infrastructure projects.
Our programs provide extensive hands-on welding practice so you are fully prepared and confident when it comes time to take your CWB tests.
CWB testing at the Institute of Technical Trades is available to non-students with advance booking. Whether you need to certify for a new job, re-certify before your qualification expires, or add a new position to your record, our testing centre is open to all welders.
Simply call us at least 48 hours prior to your preferred test date to register. Walk-ins are not available.
